In August 2022, Rich and his "stair guy" Shannon built a full flight of exterior wood stairs at our house in San Luis Obispo. Our existing stairs were rotting and had to be replaced. Originally we had planned to do it ourselves but when we realized we needed a City permit, with inspections, we decided to hire a professional. We had a tight deadline and needed the work done in a couple of weeks. The morning I called Rich and left a message, he returned my call and came over the same day, even though he was getting ready to leave town for a vacation. While on vacation with his family, he sent me the estimate, and Shannon was able to build the stairs the following week. Rich and Shannon were both professional, courteous, friendly, and super knowledgeable. The stairs came out great! I am so thankful that The Patio Cover Deck and Fence Co. was one of the companies I called that day and super grateful that Rich returned my call and was able to help us get our project done on time! And of course the stairs passed inspection.

We couldn't be happier with our motorized patio cover Rich and his team installed. It's about the greatest thing ever! When we close it, it's virtually watertight, which means no moving of patio furniture and cushions. Ours was an existing structure with a pitched roof. Rich had to put his thinking cap on for this one, but he did such a great job. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Richard and his crew did a excellent job for us , I would strongly recommend him for any decking project he is more than fair with his prices. He explained every step of the way on our project he installed a beautiful trex decking for us. He also installed a redwood deck for a near by neighbor.

My neighbor and I needed to replace the old fence between our properties. We send out a number of inquiries and Rich responded promptly. Since the fence guys are all busy others were weeks later. Rich provided us with a very competitively priced proposal and built the fence a few weeks later. His team was very professional and built us a beautiful fence that enhances our properties. At the end there were some minor changes that we initiated and they were made promptly with no hassle. One of the best contractor experiences ever. These guys are awesome! We hired them for a fairly challenging project, building a redwood staircase that connected two levels of our property. Rich responded to my inquiry promptly, showed up right on time for the bid, and gave a very reasonable quote within a few days. Once scheduled, him and the crew again showed up right on time on the scheduled day. From start to finish they went above and beyond, it was apparent that they take a lot of pride in their work. It was extremely hot during the two weeks that they worked and the guys kept a great attitude the whole time and did not take any shortcuts. Not only did they do a great job, they were extremely respectful of our home and privacy. We have a lot of animals on our property and they were kind enough to check up on them and very mindful of keeping gates closed and paying attention. They treated our home, yard, and animals as if they were their own. I couldn't be happier with the way the project turned out, and more importantly we were so happy that we chose Rich and his team. Richard and his team did an incredible job using Aluma-wood to replace a patio cover on our home. The patio cover is a complicated design with many angles, and large beams. The bid was competitive and his team are great guys you will like having around your home. They care, they communicate, and they clean up after each days work. They will be coming back later this year to replace a fence. We are very happy with the finished project!

We hired Rich to build an aluminum pergola to replace a wooden version that had seen better days. He provided a very reasonable estimate and referred us to other satisfied customers nearby to view his work. The work was completed on time, carefully and thoroughly. Rich recently replaced a privacy fence blown down by December winds. It was completed on time and on budget, and his ideas to strengthen the new fence have resulted in a handsome, sturdy new structure. This was a MAJOR deck rebuild. The old deck was 28 years old and badly in need. Rich M. of The Patio Cover Deck & Fence Co. gave us a very reasonable quote (not the highest, not the lowest) especially given our changes to the deck such as Hardy Board siding, glass windbreaks, and composite decking. 1) Rich also suggested the use of pressure treated wood, redwood railings and additional joists for strength and rot resistance not included in other quotes we got. 2) Rich gave us a written Schedule and Plan of 5 weeks while actual completion was delayed only by a week due to rain. 3) I found Rich to be exceedingly open and he would solicit my input to discuss small changes, problems, and even best construction practices and he still accomodated all our changes within the original pricing. 4) Rich kept us informed daily of the progress and the plan for the following days even via email for the days when we were not at home. 4) At the end of each day the cleanup was thorough, tools removed and building supplies were covered. 5) The construction has been rock solid and the carpentry and finish left no detail undone. 6) Rich has built us a totally AWESOME deck that more than matched our original vision and expectation.
